Katharina Lökenhoff is a multi disciplinary artist, with a special focus on painting and Social Sculpture. Her works are based on the concept of the membrane. It is guided by the interest in the phenomenon of thresholds and a curiosity about the realm of the `in-between´. Her works have been shown among others in solo exhibitions at the Kunsthaus Essen and Greatmore, Cape Town, and in group exhibitions at the Off Biennale in Cairo and the Dakar Biennale in Senegal. With CROSSING, she has been responsible for the Artistic Research Project for new life strategies since 2018, which has taken her to Iceland, Finland, Egypt, Lebanon and South Africa and has found a permanent home in Essen with CROSSING.Kunstraum. In addition, she is involved in the WHITE FLAG ART PROJECT, which addresses current global challenges, and gives workshops on the artistic exploration of the question ‘How does peace work?’
Katharina Lökenhoff ist eine multidisziplinäre Künstlerin mit einem besonderen Schwerpunkt auf Malerei und Sozialer Skulptur. Ihre Arbeiten basieren auf dem Konzept der Membran. Sie sind geleitet von ihrem Interesse an Schwellenphänomenen und ihrer Neugierde für den Bereich des „Dazwischen“. Ihre Arbeiten wurden u. A. in Einzelausstellungen im Kunsthaus Essen und Greatmore, Kapstadt, sowie in Gruppenausstellungen auf der Off Biennale in Kairo und der Dakar Biennale im Senegal gezeigt. Mit CROSSING ist sie seit 2018 verantwortlich für das künstlerische Forschungsprojekt für neue Lebensstrategien, das sie nach Island, Finnland, Ägypten, Libanon und Südafrika geführt hat und mit dem CROSSING.Kunstraum in Essen eine feste Station gefunden hat. Darüber hinaus ist sie am WHITE FLAG ART PROJECT beteiligt, das sich mit aktuellen globalen Herausforderungen auseinandersetzt, und gibt Workshops zur künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Frage „Wie funktioniert Frieden?“.
